|
|
Hi everybody:
I work in a public university in Costa Rica, and I'm in charge of a recently bought computer with 2 westmere 6-core, with multithreading, and 2 Tesla C2050 (Fermi).
It comes with ubuntu preinstalled, but as we are going to use only to execute C/C++ & OpenMP/CUDA code, I thought that gentoo (wich I used some time ago) would be better than ubuntu... and anything else.
I haven't found any thread about CUDA 3, or Tesla 2050 on gentoo, so, before start to erase all the hard drive (the installation came with only the root partition), I wanted to know if there is some warning about installing gentoo, or some recommendation before proceed, so I don't waste the hours I know would take to install gentoo and tweak the kernel... in something that could be an imposible task known for somebody in advance.
Also, if it's enough to install only 64Bits, or with multilib support.
Thanks for your time.
Regards:
Luis Ernesto. |

I wonder did they brought that computer with a 10g harddisk ?
Just resize your root partition and have both system there, now you can play with gentoo while still having a working ubuntu.
huhu the "format, format, kill 'em all, backup are for pussy" generation ! |
