Recommend an email client for yahoo mail in USA? No pop3

Was very interest in claws mail on my slackware install but unfortunately I had problems using it to access my yahoo mail account which has pop3 disabled. Yeah free users can't have pop3 accounts. I was trying to use claws with some third party software that allowed getting email without pop3 access but I had problems changing a port setting that didn't seem to be available.

Can anyone recommend an email client for yahoo mail? I'm running an lxde desktop so I don't want anything with quicktime, gnome or kde...

You can use thunderbird as mail client, there exists an extension for various webmail services: http://webmail.mozdev.org/
