that would have the following specifications:

1. will monitor via unabtrusive ping all network lines and servers. must have configurable triggers for events.

2. must also monitor elements of above on selectable ports other than pinging, such as ability to telnet into email servers to test response, load a dummy web page on a certain web site. also prefer but not necessary to monitor snmp from various hosts when available. in addition to raw bulk machine/line monitoring, we need to watch services on those servers.

3. on a 'down event' it will page 2 or more diffeerent sources and send an email as well as set off a local sound alarm. paging can be done via email so as long as it can send 3 or more email messages that will work.

4. must interface with mrtg so mrtg can provide a status page report of all lines and servers.

can be gui or text based.

anyone have any suggestions?

Nagios will get you everything, but #4 without too much work. #4 might be possible as well, but I've never gone that deep into Nagios.
