hello,

since friday (after my regularly weekend update) my keyboard is crazy :-( it is switch layout itself (en -> cz), sometimes it blocks my input and sends
random keys press itself, ... i thought it is bad keyboard (microsoft wireless keyboard 2000) so i have bought a new one - the same but wired. what a
surprise the new keyboard is crazy too :-(

i have notice in x11-libs/libXi-1.4.2 elog follow message:

WARN: postinst
Some special keys and keyboard layouts may stop working.
To fix them, recompile xorg-server.

what the fuck does it mean? :-( btw. i have recompiled xorg-server and it did not help :-(
package x11-misc/xkeyboard-config has been upgraded too so my suspicion is these things.

is here anybody who has the same troubles? any help, friends?

Hi,

I haven't experienced problems like that, but if you've upgraded xorg-server it's a very good idea to recompile all drivers.
try:
emerge -1 `qlist -CI x11-drivers/`

hth.

hello and thanks for your answer. i did it and i always do that, of course - two packages in my case:

$ qlist -CI x11-drivers/
x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers
x11-drivers/xf86-input-evdev

my troubles are continuing :-(

Add a constraint to /dev/input/event* paths to your InputClass rules - don't know if it helps, but it should reduce the noise.

i will try it today, thanks. btw. i have completely change my keyboard and mouse from wireless to wired
so there was no noise in the xorg log (Microsoft Wireless Desktop Receiver 3.1A was out) and it did not help :-(

[edited]
well, i have tried it. now i am using wired keyboard "ms curve keyboard 2000" and wireless mouse "ms wireless desktop
receiver 3.1A
" (a part of my previous hw configuration - mouse works ok). errors have been reduced in xorg log:

$ grep "EE\|WW" /var/log/Xorg.0.log
[ 44.353] Current Operating System: Linux rpc-linux 2.6.38.4-zen #1 ZEN SMP PREEMPT Wed May 4 17:32:12 CEST 2011 x86_64
(WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown.
[ 45.732] (II) Loading extension MIT-SCREEN-SAVER
[ 48.251] (WW) Microsft Microsoft Wireless Desktop Receiver 3.1A: ignoring absolute axes.
[ 48.336] (EE) Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard 2000: failed to initialize for relative axes.

you can find whole log on http://paste.pocoo.org/show/384562/

unfortunately, it does not help :-(

Did you have policykit or consolekit updates? I don't know these kinds of things well, but they're sometimes related.

What do you exactly mean by en->cz? You switch to and from Czech and US layout, and they get switched randomly?

You can watch the reported key press/release events with xev. (x11-apps/xev) Run "xev" (you may want to copy the output with "tee" or "script"), press some alphabet keys, and see "keycode" field. If the keycodes are correct, then from hardware up to evdev driver is ok. Keycodes are listed in /usr/share/X11/xkb/keycodes/evdev. (AE0* are the top row, from left to right, almost. AD0* are the second, "qwerty" row, etc.)
