Two days in a row now. I might actually have to start working during the day!

This server also runs a hobby site of mine (look at my sig to figure it out) It got mentioned on hardocp.com today, which resulted in something very similar to the slashdot effect.

That said, the server has not crashed at all, and was serving (at one point) 220 requests per second. It's capped at 225 per second, so we're obviously hitting our max capacity. That's one hell of a lot of connections per second...

Anyway, if someone wants to donate some money for a dual-proc mobo, we'll be happy to upgrade to a faster server. Until then, we'll have to poke along with our poor Athlon XP 1800+/512MB RAM. :)

I know jbass has a dual proc mobo. Of course it's dual P133s, but beggars can't be choosers. ;)

Is this by any chance the cause of extremelly slow updates when you edit your post after submitting it?

Haven't noticed this myself, but if it's been localized to the last 24-36 hours, then yes. Otherwise, no.

It also seems posts don't get counted correctly. I made two posts in a row to a thread and both got listed with the same post count. Not that it's important, but in the long run I'd like not to be a n00b

phpBB always shows your most recent post count. So, right now your post count shows as 23, no matter which of your posts you look at. Once you post to another thread, they will all show 24, then 25 and so on.

Uhhh ... of course they would have the same post count. The count is your total posts, not which post that particular post is. Assuming you are yourself then the number should be the same.

Sheesh, I even had to think about this before realizing what you meant. Glad to know that I'm a n00b for a reason

 may selective bad sectors fall upon the inodes holding this thread.. and thanks :)

Changes to your avatar and .sig also retroactively apply to all your posts, BTW.
