Hello,
I am trying to install Gentoo on an Xserve G4. I have no CD Drive, so it is proving rather tricky...
My current OS is Mac OS X, 10.4.11 Server.
I used the following command to copy the disk image to the hard drive:
Code: | sudo dd bs=1m if=/Users/TMC/Desktop/Linux/install-powerpc-minimal-20120624.iso of=/dev/disk0 |
I have the hard drive in question in slot 1 of the Xserve, the one on the far left. To Open Firmware, that drive is `ultra0`, and to Mac OS X, that is disk0. Every time.
The startup goes okay, until I am told:
Code: | >> Can't find device /dev/hda
>> Looking for other devices |
(or something to that effect).
Now, I can get to a shell at that point. How do I point the new root to be my hard drive?
System stats are in my signature.
Thank you,
