|
|
Hi all!
I bought one of these cheap MK802 USB-PCs and started compiling gentoo for it.
Here is some info about the device:
http://liliputing.com/tag/mk802
Things are pretty simple at the moment. I started with the ubuntu image for an external sd card, downloaded a arm7-stage3 and started compiling.
If anyone else is interested I can also setup a little project page.
Regards,
Alex |

I'm trying to install Gentoo on mk802. (gentoo-sources-3.5.0) Config file from Lubuntu. After a reboot is just a black screen and Gentoo does not work. Your system work ok ? |

Gentoo sources will not work, you'll need the allwinner-a10 git sources:
http://rhombus-tech.net/allwinner_a10/kernel_compile/
I'm currently stuck on reconfiguring/compiling uboot.
Does anyone have some ideas about this?
I compiled uboot as they wrote in this guide:
http://rhombus-tech.net/allwinner_a10/u-boot/
But it seems like u-boot is not reading my uEnv.txt .
I installed the gentoo root and kernel-modules on /dev/mmcblk1p3 and copied uImage as uImage_gentoo into /boot which is /dev/mmcblk1p1 .
My idea was to create the uEnv.txt like this:
kernel=uImage_gentoo
root=/dev/mmcblk1p3
But as i said it still boots the old kernel and ubuntu from /dev/mmcblk1p2 . |

Is there anything new about MK802 and gentoo? Is already something like stage3 for mk802? |

This is for the ones who want to have a gentoo in their mk802 and are still blocked.
You have to unpack the tars i have linked a few post ago, MANTAINING permissions. Obviously you must have u-boot configured in your sd card (done by dd'ing a ready image then overwriting boot and root partitions).
In that case, it will boot without problems.
Next thing to do is set up a new portage environment, selecting profiles and removing the old portage install (remember to edit make.conf for overlay_dir).
THEN, you have to follow the link posted by E-Razor for resolving DNS conflicts with portage.
At this point, you can try to use emerge, (now i have compilation issues, i will try). |

Moved from Installing Gentoo to Gentoo on Alternative Architectures.
It will get better exposure here as its an ARM system _________________ Regards,

Compilation issues were caused by strange date/time configuration (econf failed).
Setting the right date / time resolved all issues and all goes right.
So, if there is someone who has problems, i'm here for helping others! |
