Just wondering how many people have actually switched to regularly running kernel 2.6.

Still running 2.4.20-ppc-r3. I tried running 2.6.0 and couldn't get pmud working. Thing just wouldn't go to sleep.. I'll give it another try soon.

Been using 2.5/2.6 for about 6 months. I got too used to the improved interactivity, the ATAPI CD-ROM burning support, the xpad driver, etc to give it up :-)

I've been running the 2.6.x series on a couple machines for a couple months. There were a few issues getting a winmodem to work (smartlink drivers), but with 2.6.0 final it appears to work fine now.

I have to use it for my main system since it is using SATA and the 2.4-kernels that is supposed to have support won't work for me. But I don't mind using the mm-sources. :D

But of course, I'm more in Windows these days, playing EVE Online and whatnot... and Maya of course.

I'm running 2.6-test11-r3 on my ibook and pmud simply isn't needed anymore. pbbuttonsd will do what you want just fine.

Why do Gentoo users like to live on the edge? :?:

Anyway, have been using it since test11. I was impressed by subtle performance gains I observed.

i tried test1 when i was still on slackware, and continued
using them when i switched to gentoo. currently i am still
using 2.6.0-test11-love4 until i can switch to 2.6.0-love1.

i did try 2.6.0 when it came out, but love-sources feels a
lot snappier and works faster too - compiling is faster for
me with it.

Here's another question: Are you going to, and if so, when will you start using the 2.7 kernels? I'm going to do it from 2.7.0

largely depends on what the first couple of releases start fixing.. like the tty layer would be a good option, the VM would be another one.

I tried 2.6.pre something, but didn't get my wlan working, and didn't have time to work it out with exams and all, but now that it's christmas and no school for a couple of weeks, I'll try some more, and get everything working.

I've been using it exclusivly since 2.5.49 (which was a really bad release btw, came out on halloween (the feature freeze) and a ton of features were just sorta uncleanly put in)

Still on 2.4 because I am using Gentoo only on servers.

In the next few days I might try Gentoo in a desktop machine and I'll use 2.6
