|
|
Hi there,
I have realized that the dead.letter under root directory is increasing due to an everyday rsnapshot message. I don't need such message because rsnapshot has its own logfile. I suspect these messages come from rsnpshot via vixie-cron. However, rsnapshot has no option to control these messages. Has anybody know to fix this?
Best

It's probably indeed from vixie-cron, vixie-cron should have a dependency on a mail system as that's the normal way for cron to notify output of cron jobs.
A way to "fix" this? redirect stdout and stderr to /dev/null in your crontab. _________________ Intel Core i7 2700K/Radeon R7 250/24GB DDR3/256GB SSD

Probably got ssmtp installed with vixie-cron, as IIRC a mail transfer agent virtual is a dependency of vixie-cron.
Another idea is to use ssmtp to forward mails to another box if one really doesn't want a full mail system on the machine. _________________ Intel Core i7 2700K/Radeon R7 250/24GB DDR3/256GB SSD

rsnapshot seems to use v-cron via internals. I mean, there isn't a rsnapshot line in crontab to redirect to /dev/null or to anywhere. |

That's exactly what is happening. SSMPT depends on virtual/mta-1 which is also a vixie-cron dependency.
Solutions was unmerge ssmtp since it's something I almost never use.
Thanks for helping. |
