Quote:
If you are using Portage >= 2.0.48, there is another option for installing masked packages that does not require editing package.mask. You can add a category/package entry into the file /etc/portage/package.unmask, which will survive across an "emerge sync".

You can also mask packages locally, if you wish. With early versions of Portage 2.0.48, the file to do this is /etc/portage/profiles/package.mask. With Portage 2.0.48-r4 and beyond, this file moves to /etc/portage/package.mask.

Code:
# more /usr/portage/package.unmask
net-p2p/nicotine
# emerge -pv nicotine

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies
!!! all ebuilds that could satisfy "nicotine" have been masked.

!!! Error calculating dependencies. Please correct.

riporto all'attenzione questo topic

:?

/etc/portage/package.unmask only works for things that are onlymasked in package.mask, often these packages are also masked with KEYWORDS="~x86 ..." or even KEYWORDS="-*". To unmask these you have to use either the copy-to-overlay method or apply a patch to your portage (see bug 13616).

e ancora...

Doesn't this defeat the purpose?

I don't want to "unmask" ebuilds masked in packages.mask...

But some people want.

I want to unmask specific unstable packages in an easy way...

I don't want to have to unmask them all using ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" and then add every package except the one I want to run to packages.mask...
Please tell me there's something easier that won't get damaged by an emerge rsync.

It's coming really soon or I'll hit Nick

ah ok, ora ho capito cosa intendevi.
