Hi Everyone,

Sorry about posting yet another question with regards to UT GOTY installation, but I can't get around this problem even after reading similar posts all over the net.

I managed to get the installer running ( ut-install-436-goty.run) just fine.
I mounted my first disk on /mnt/cdrom with no problem. I was able to peruse the contents of the disk just fine.

When I initiate installation, the installer starts, then stops telling me to mount my first disk.
The disk is already mounted and is about 1 try away from becoming severly damaged used parts.

Any help would be appreciated.

I dunno, for UT installs I usually end up copying the cd to the hard drive first
(or cds)
to
/mnt/ut1
/mnt/ut2
then unmount them
run the ermerge and it ll complain and in there tell you two environment variables to use to point to them
Like GAMES_CD1 and GAMES_CD2 or something
export GAMES_CD1=/mnt/ut
etc them
and run it again
should work?

Mindstab,

Thanks for the reply.

Turns out my version of the game, 432, will not install with the currently available ebuilds or the ut-install-436-goty.run installer.

Looks like I will need to keep the Windows drive around for that one.

No no no...

The 432 GOTY edition is automatically updated to 450 when you install it via portage.

Code:
emerge unreal-tournament-goty

That should take care of everything. You'll just need to mount & unmount the CDs as needed.

Interesting.

Wonder why the disk mounting is not working.
Even if I place the disk files on my drive and export the proper shell variable it still wont work.

As usual I am probably missing something extremely simple.

ut-install-436-goty.run is actually for ut 432 goty and patches from 432 > 436

I guess I was not specific enough.

I can mount my UT disks and even copy the files from the disk to the hard drive manually with no problems. The snag is when the installer tries to mount the drive. It will mount, then immediately unmount, the disk.

This happens when I use the ut-install-436.run installer and do an emerge unreal-tournament-goty.

It's not the end of the world if it doesn't work.
Just hate giving up on something!

Ravage,

You hit the nail on the head!

I did not have Joliet support built into my kernel. Not only did the ut-installer-436.run installer work perfectly, but wine also runs amazingly well.

I have documented everything I did to get it running so if anyone would like me to post the steps please let me know. I will check this post for the next few days.

Thanks everyone for your help.
