Hi,
the title pretty much says it. Why is it that emerging www-client/firefox installs Aurora (24.2.0)?
How can I switch to a stable build? _________________ [140205|15:13:07] < terabit>| fuck!! wtf happened ? bash: emerge: command not found |

I don't get it. What is it now?
Why is it Aurora?
Why is it 24.0?
Why does it not open jpg files, but wants do download them instead? (even if no attachment header is set) _________________ [140205|15:13:07] < terabit>| fuck!! wtf happened ? bash: emerge: command not found |

Mozilla Firefox is a trademark and the developers are not allowed it do distribute it using that name. So they called it Aurora, like the alpha version of firefox, but it is a stable one. Is is even more stable than the usual one, because it is the ESR version. They chose this, because new versions with new features also include new security issues.
I think you can change how it treats files in the properties. |

I think you were right. If bindist is set, you get aurora, if not you get firefox.
From the ebuild for 26.0:
Code: |
if use bindist; then
sizes="16 32 48"
icon_path="${S}/browser/branding/aurora"
# Firefox's new rapid release cycle means no more codenames
# Let's just stick with this one...
icon="aurora"
name="Aurora"
else
sizes="16 22 24 32 256"
icon_path="${S}/browser/branding/official"
icon="${PN}"
name="Mozilla Firefox"

I believe the version you get is managed independently of the bindist use flag. 26.0 is the current unstable version, with 24.2.0 the stable version. |
