Just a note. The Other Languages forum is a place for users to gather and demonstrate a need to create a new language forum. A Norwegian forum exists, but is not overly active. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

Not an official opinion, but it looks like klieber was convinced by the French campaign, so that might provide a rough benchmark. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

So far, I count four. There is no exact number that I'm looking for, but four votes over several days certainly isn't enough.

Kurt, You need to be more clear here.
Our Question is: how many votes is enough for you to decide positive?
Kurt, je moet meer specifiek zijn.
Onze vraag blijft: Hoeveel stemmen is genoeg om positief te beslissen? _________________ Wilbert van Bakel

Enough votes is enough.
There is no hard number. A lot has to do with the number of posts per day, etc. With the French forum, quite a few people responded in a short amount of time, so as soon as they translate the forums FAQ, I'll create a french forum on a trial basis. If it doesn't get enough posts to warrant the extra effort, it gets killed. Simple as that.
To give you some perspective, the Norwegian forum does not have enough posts to sustain itself over the long run. It may pick up over time, but if it doesn't, it will get folded back into the generic International forum.
But, there seems to be at least some interest in a Dutch forum, so I'm willing to create one on a trial basis. Just to set your expectations, if it ends up being like the Norwegian forum, it will get folded back into the Intl. forum.
Here's what I need one or more people to commit to:
- Translating the forums FAQ (make sure to use this link), both initially and on an ongoing basis.
- Volunteer to be a moderator. (vocis has volunteered for this already, so we're set here
As soon as someone sends me the translated FAQ (send it to my nickname here on the forums at gentoo dot org), I will create the forum and add the language packs.

I would be interested in a Dutch forum as well. Is the FAQ being translated already?
If someone took the effort already I volunteer to proofread it a bit before it gets posted - taking out typo's and stuff like that
So, is someone doing the translation already, or what? |

OK, I will work on the translation of the FAQ.
I'm also available to be moderatot, although I would like to get more information about the impact of that function. _________________ Wilbert van Bakel

Here's another vote for a Dutch forum. There a quite a lot Dutch-speaking Gentoo users, so I think we don't have to worry about the postcount in a Dutch forum.
I also want to let you know that there is a Dutch Gentoo IRC-channel, you can find it at irc.openprojects.net - #gentoo-nl
Groeten,
Niek. |

Folks --
Wilbertnl has sent me the translated FAQ -- I'll have the Dutch forum up and running by the end of this weekend at the latest.

Goed, zet er nog maar een streepje bij voor een neerlandstalig-forum.
Uiteraard zijn onze nederlandstalige zuiderburen ook meer dan welkom |
