|
|
I've tried in Windows & Linux. I only tried windows because I have it installed (and I was shocked to find that it was only the front-left..)
But yeah.
It's a via82xx (8235 I think.. alsa driver is via82xx however).
With headphones or speakers there's no output from the left side.. and I just switched to this via82xx tonight because it has 6.1 or something.. and I wanna buy some new speakers.
There seem to be a lot of threads on this.. I've tried acpi=off in the kernel, I've quadruple checked alsamixer for anything that might be panned to the right only.. but since the problem is in both windows & linux, I have no idea.. I don't want to lean towards bad chipset or something because it was working the last time I used it (~5months ago, give or take..)
Anyways, thanks for reading.. any advice in this is greatly wanted. I don't want to have to buy a new soundcard with my speakers
(because I know if I do I'll get the audigy2 platinum dealie with the drive bay.. *drool*)

Well, it doesn't work with OSS either. (from opensound)

maybe it broke during these 5 months?
if you have the same problem on ALSA, OSS, and windows drivers it must be hardware related, I guess... |

Probably a hardware problem (especially if it happens in Windows too) - either the sound card is bad or the wiring to the front left speaker isn't cooperating (or if there's control on the speakers themselves to pan from left to right it's pushed all the way to the right). I can confirm that the alsa via82xx driver in 0.9.8 works for both front channels. |
