Howdy,

I am relatively new to gentoo and very new to wine, but I've managed to get wine working and internet explorer running. The problem I am running in to is I can not set the proxy settings in Internet Explorer. Nothing happens when I go to Tools --> Internet Options.
Can I set this in the registry files or is there something I'm missing that would allow me to do it the 'normal' windows way.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Whats wrong with using Mozilla or Konqueror instead of IE?
Either way, you should get a better browsing experience - especially with Mozilla :)

I'm trying to replace my windows box at work. (think number 1 computer mfg in the us) I have to use IE for some internal sites and there is no way around it. I need answers NOT reasons why I should be using something other than IE.

Edit the registry

Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]
"ProxyServer"="<your proxy IP address>:8080"
"ProxyEnable"=dword:00000001
"ProxyOverride"="<local>"

Thanks, that got me farther than I was before..... Wow, IE is incredibly buggy on wine (not that it isn't buggy anyhow). Any tips on helping it to actually open up a web page? I can test on internal sites and avoid proxy all together, but I get NO webpages at all.

I am communicating with it though, cause I get a response from my proxy server trying to authenticate.

Ah - got me there.

Guess you've found out why "IE only" sites suck blow and chew at the same time :?

Well, thanks anyway....

I knew that about IE when I got into this, but unfortunately, to rid myself of one evil I have to take little doses with me.

Hey - sounds like my old adage
