Firstly, is there a way to replace Nautilus as the default file browser? I'm guessing no.
Secondly, and more importantly, I'm getting permission errors with my /mnt/hdb1 files as well as errors when I try to set the default action "You may only set default actions to normal files."
Right.
Anyway here's a screenshot. http://eric.halo43.com/images/screenshots/roxshot.png
Little help? |

Well, here's a small idea... Code: | su
Password:
cd /usr/bin
mv nautilus nautilus.original
cp rox nautilus |
A stupid little hack, but it works. _________________ old outdated sig |

Ok I figured out how to fix rox's behavior. For anyone's future reference, go here: http://rox.sourceforge.net/phpwiki/index.php/RoxFaq/RuntimeErrors and scroll to the "Why don't my image files show thumbnails?" section.
As for replacing nautilus using the method you suggested, I have been advised against that by other people. How and why could that be considered dangerous? |

Personally... Well, it can't really mess up your system. Just mv nautlis.original to nautilus and Nautilus will work again. _________________ old outdated sig |

Why not edit your session?
Use the session editor(I think it's in System Tools) to remove Nautilus from your session, and add a script that sets up your pinboard/panels on start (last tab in the dialog). Boom, no more nautilus.
Of course, if you still wanted to have Nautilus do your desktop icons, you're pretty much out of luck. Nautilus doesn't play nice with others. |
