mods ...
I seem to be having an issue where search returns a list of the most recent posts, and not the results of the search term. Similarly, if I provide a search term and an author I get the most recent posts for that user (and no search term applied). It has to be the result of something recent as I use search with author quite often, and until the last few days (or attempts at least) it hasn't functioned as it once did. Can't think what might have possibly changed my end, so I thought I'd report it and see if anyone else can reproduce or provide a possible explanation.

Hi!
The search engine has limitations on the words size. It can be that lvmetad is too short. If I search on "connectivity", I have good hits.
You will get more useful hits by using your favorite browser and the "site:forums.gentoo.org" keyword _________________ Kind regards,

xavier ... I don't think it's that, I just searched for 'lvm' and this returns what I would expect, lvmetad doesn't however ... even though the string does exists in a number of posts (ie, here). Even if this were the case, I know I've searched for this exact same term before in the last couple of months, and got the particular post I was looking for, rather than a list of the most recent posts, which suggests something changed.
That's what I'd rather avoid, yes, the search feature isn't great but I can generally find the post in question quicker because the 'posted' date offers a way to scan through the 'posts' list and get to the time period. Also seeing the 'forum' it was posted to provides an additional memetic aid.

shrike ... I can't answer in regard to chromium, but do you have 'private viewing' enabled in firefox? I did at the time of the above report, and have since disabled it, subseqently everything seems to be back to normal.

khayyam,
That's a negative, private browsing (do not track) is off in firefox. Just for giggles I tested from an android tablet.. same problem.
This problem is of no matter to me. I just wanted to make it known that more than one person was affected. If I am the only one then that's a peculiarity I can live with. Does make the mind wander though..
Thanks,
shrike |

searching by typing in the quick search field:
lvm - works
metad - works
lvmetad - returns most recent posts
everything in between - the error: no topics or posts found
it happens just for lvmetad, on everything, everytime, from win, lin, bsd, using k-meleon 75.1, maxthon cloud browser, vivaldi, firefox, browserling dot com slash browse (it was chrome, it was the first thing, I think, that loaded, I made only one try there, it returned the most recent posts and it was triggered by lvmetad typed in the quick search field). |

lvm works for me too. The two words failing for me are 'skylake' and 'amdgpu'.
Thanks. |

shrike ... ok, I was probably too quick to make that connection, I hadn't tested the above term (and now having done so its the same).
@.user ... thanks for looking.
