==========Here is my Question================

Since I have been having trouble installing my gentoo on "normal" arch. Would anyone be interested in helping a noob with the installation of his amd64 MB (I actually will be setting up two, the only real difference is the VID cARD (FX 5200 Pro)), I would need all the help that you would be willing to offer...

I would like step by step instructions that would delineate which installation medium I should use and what configs and options I should cast durring the install what files to modify and how to modify them with what I should put in them...

I really like gentoo, I really like the community, and I will recommend gentoo to anyone...

Thanks In Advance ~7~

I think your problems are related with the the rsync main server. They got I filesystem problem and i wonder if isnt this the reason for the problems with your broken portage tree and packages.

You should wait till they fix the problem or for the next announce.

Check this out:
Code:

http://dev.gentoo.org/~brad_mssw/amd64-tech-notes.html

Other than whats noted in that follow the x86 install guide,
Its not too tricky really, those tech notes pick up all the important/annoying/bits you need to do differnt.

I've successfully got linux going on my AMD64 3200+ (gigabyte mobo via chipset), the biggest problems I had actually were getting grub liking the SATA hdd (my own silly fault for not reading into it really, the live cd picked the SATA drives up as /dev/sda nad /dev/sdb where on my new kernel/system it wanted it to be /dev/hde and /dev/hdg - I thought it was a kernel issue as to why it didn't like root=/dev/sda1 as a boot parameter) and my gfx card (fx5700) which the 4499 drivers didn't like and the newer drivers were still masked.

Give it a go - just download the AMD64 live cd's and you'll be sweet :).
