hi, i am going to install gentoo on my new bought amd64 system, hardware:
kingston ram, 512mb pc3200
asus k8v deluxe
amd64 3200+
can someone give me some good hints?
another thing, i heard alot about bootstrap2_6 and stuff, what should i do? and what livecd? can anyone give me a link?

Hi, as much as I would LOVE to have tried an athlon64 box, I haven't yet.
but here is what I do know:
get your livecd and stages from here:
ftp://ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo/experimental/amd64/
if you are using sata, it has promise 20378, which I believe is supported as a scsi drive under 2.6x kernels.
same with via.
I don't know what gcc versino to use, nor what CFLAGS to use.. perhaps k8, but if you use latest gcc, or gcc 3.4, then there may be specific a64 flags..
other than that, it is a via mainboard, so the usual stuff..
