|
|
I found 3 ebuilds, 2 of them it says are "fake" and the 3rd one gives me this:
Code: |
root@TNT petr # emerge winex-transgaming
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) app-emulation/winex-transgaming-3.2.1 to /
!!! winex3_3.2.1-1.i386.tgz not found in /usr/portage/distfiles.
!!! app-emulation/winex-transgaming-3.2.1 has fetch restriction turned on.
!!! This probably means that this ebuild's files must be downloaded
!!! manually. See the comments in the ebuild for more information.
* Please download the appropriate WineX archive (winex3_3.2.1-1.i386.tgz)
* from http://www.transgaming.com/ (requires a Transgaming subscription)
*
* Then put the file in /usr/portage/distfiles
|
So how do you people get the free version of WineX? |

I believe the winex-cvs ebuild was pulled at TransGaming's request. According to TG, the CVS repository is not intended to provide a "free" version of WineX, but is for developers to use to contribute code. They got mad at debian about this, too, and have hinted that anonymous CVS will go away if too many people use it to "steal" their software. |

They want you to subscribe. It's up to you if getting extra game compatibility is worth 5 bucks a month. Personally, I subscribe to it and have been happy with it.. many others disagree. |

Amen, brother...
Though I tend to only endorse actual native ports. I look at it like this, if they're not willing to support my platform of choice, then I'm not willing to support their wallets. _________________ Ex-Gentoo Developer
