|
|
I am not an experienced gentoo user, but have installed a couple times.
i have been trying to install it on a ibook G3 with 348 MB ram for quite a while and it seems it is now on the way to a successfull instalation, but when i followed the handbook and installed logrotate upon intallation of sysklogd i got a message:
Code: | * The log rotate is now installed under /usr/bin.Please update your links
*
*logrotate state file is now located at /var/lib/misc/logrotate.status
* See bug #357275
|
I don ´t understand which links and have no idea about how to proceed with theirupdate. Have googled many combinations without success. Can you kindly provide some info ? |

Does logrotate work as expected or do you experience problems? Seems this is only a post-install message to inform you that some defaults changed. For more info you could have a look at the Gentoo Bug Tracker, as hinted in the message: https://bugs.gentoo.org/357275 _________________ Talos II. [Gentoo Linux] | PMac G5 11,2. PMac G4 3,6. PBook G4 5,8. [MorphOS 3.18 / Gentoo Linux] | Vampire V4 SA [ApolloOS / Amiga OS 3.2.2] |

The bug documentation is too difficult for me to make any sense of it. I don't know yet if logrotate is functioning. I have set it for rotation on a weekly basis with 28 days maximal live för files, and that was less than a week ago. I will wait and see. I did not see anything related to links in the bug documentation though. The ,message i got was about "updating links " |
