I currently have kde's 3.0.1, 3.0.3, 5 (cvs) installed and I just unmerged a 3.0.2 install.
I would like to know how to choose which one of these to run in any particular session. I understand that KDM allows one to choose which version to load in a session, but there doesn't seem to be any solid way to adjust a user's environment profile.
For example: due to the way the following variables are set
Code: |
bash-2.05a$ env | grep kde
KDEDIRS=/usr/kde/cvs:/usr/kde/3:/usr:/usr
KDEDIR=/usr/kde/cvs
PATH=/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/opt/Acrobat5:/opt/rar/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/kde/cvs/bin:/usr/kde/3/bin:/usr/qt/3/bin:/usr/kde/3/bin:/usr/kde/3/bin:/opt/vmware/bin
|
when I "which" any chosen kde app, the CVS version is always the one to run:
Code: |
bash-2.05a$ which kmail
/usr/kde/cvs/bin/kmail
|
Am I expected to edit /etc/profile.env by hand? I don't mind doing this UNLESS there is a correct portage-related way to approach this. If there is, please let me know!
