I'm confused about what you have on your system now.

Nothing
Code:

#  equery b /usr/bin/i686-pc-linux-gnu-cpp
!!! Section 'wine-overlay' in repos.conf has name different from repository name 'wine' set inside repository
!!! Section 'wine-overlay' in repos.conf has name different from repository name 'wine' set inside repository
!!! Section 'wine-overlay' in repos.conf has name different from repository name 'wine' set inside repository
 * Searching for /usr/bin/i686-pc-linux-gnu-cpp ...

by the way.. eselect-wine does show me all options corrupt. (they are standing there but cannot be choosen)
Only the latest version I merged, and this is then corrupt again, after reboot.
So this confuse is cleared :-) (my own)

Code:
ualcore ~/000_CMD_sh/build # eselect wine list
Available wine versions:
  [1]   wine-any-2.0
  [2]   wine-any-2.21
  [3]   wine-any-4.0
  [4]   wine-staging-4.6
  [5]   wine-staging-4.11 *
  [6]   wine-vanilla-9999
dualcore ~/000_CMD_sh/build # eselect wine set 4
!!! Error: Target does not exist
exiting

do ls -l /usr/bin >/tmp/bin.flist and wgetpaste that file

As far as your wine list what does "eselect wine" return (should be some type of help)

and what does equery l "wine*" return

Why do you have so many different things in /usr/bin?
you've got x86_64, mips, i686, and some other things all thrown together, and quite frankly it looks like some of them are stepping on each other.

The piece from your Xt configure, shows it looking at x86_64 then it starts looking at i686 stuff and can't find things.

You're going to have a hard time compiling anything properly until you straighten out all these different binaries.

Did you install all of these by way of portage/emerge or did you just compile things from a tar src and just put them there?

Two of the above don't have ebuild in portage anymore the "??" ones so it doesn't know what to do with them.
I would start by depcleaning those things that you really don't need, and try cleaning up your system. It's a mess.

I've been Cross Compiling for RB500 (mikrotik.com) for ten years now, with that system. :)
The probs CAME when I changed profile as the news say: To 17.1 step by step.
And the step where IT copies, there got the FS full at the latest 3/4 ...
So there is some garbage since change to 17.1 :(

The command didn't roll-back nor' IT could be resumed or restarted.
Of course: I resized / then after. But a little bit late. :)

You might be able to straighten some of it out by making a directory like /usr/bin/temp and moving some of the i686* stuff there till you get things compiled properly (that was the complaint from emerging libXt). Then moving it back later. But that's just guess work on my part.

The rest is just going to be try and emerge, move things it complains about that shouldn't be there and continue. Sorry I can't be more help than this.
