Hello Gentoo Admins & Maintainers,
I have been using Gentoo for 11 years now, I cannot imagine myself using anything else on my main PC and server base systems.
Why don't you post a Bitcoin Cash donation address on your donation page?
I have some Bitcoin Cash to spare and I think you deserve it. Some other people will probably do the same.
PS.
Apparently a guy has developed a recurring automated, but non-custodial solution for receiving recurring payments in Bitcoin Cash too, so it may be of interest to you.
https://github.com/KarolTrzeszczkowski/Mecenas-recurring-payment-EC-plugin
I haven't checked how well it works though, I assumed it works already. |

SoofMan,
The Gentoo Foundation, which looks after Gentoos finances does not accept anything other than US Dollars.
The Foundation is actually legally, a business. It has to account for money in and money out like any other business.
Accounting in one currency is hard enough. The only way the Foundation can accept currencies other than US Dollars, is to immediately convert them to dollars and record the dollar value in the books ... but it was actually <currency> that was donated, so there is the exchange rate and conversion cost to track too.
The amount of effort required has grown by a factor of three. Then the discussion goes Bitcoin? why not <random currency>?
Its best to keep it as simple as possible for the volunteers running the Foundation.
That's how it was when I was on the board of Trustees, so I do not speak for the Gentoo Foundation today. _________________ Regards,

| I get your point.
What I am saying is that other than me there are probably many more Cryptocurrency users who use Gentoo, so the Gentoo foundation might be missing on some significant sums of money in the long run.
And I only hold Crypto (BTC and BCH) anyway, so I am not giving your foundation dollars because i chose to abandon fiat money some time ago. |

SoofMan,
Its a request that came up every year or so while I was a trustee. The board are aware of it. _________________ Regards,
