That looks to me like a more general problem with X not working. Was X working correctly before you tried to install LXDE? |

ROGA,
Code: | [ 196.625] (EE) open /dev/dri/card0: No such file or directory |
That says that you have a bit missing from your kernel.
looks almost but not quite like the Pi Foundation kernel.
That suggests that you started with bcm2711_defconfig and took a bit out that you need. _________________ Regards,

@HU
I don't known if X was working correctly. How could I test this?
@NeddySeagoon
Yes, I have installed the Pi Foundation kernel from the Git-hub repository and had started with bcm2711_defconfig. But I didn't took a bit out of this config.
I cross compiled the kernel on my pc with:
Code: | ARCH=arm64 CROSS_COMPILE=aarch64-unknown-linux-gnu- make bcm2711_defconfig |
then modyfied only the Power-Settings:
Code: | ARCH=arm64 CROSS_COMPILE=aarch64-unknown-linux-gnu- make menuconfig |
and changed the value
Code: | CPU Power Management –> CPU Frequency scaling –> Default CPUFreq governor (powersave) –> |
to
Code: | CPU Power Management –> CPU Frequency scaling –> Default CPUFreq governor (Ondemand) –> |
after that I compiled the kernel
Code: | ARCH=arm64 CROSS_COMPILE=aarch64-unknown-linux-gnu- make -j8 |
What do you think now, would be false in my config? _________________ regards,

ROGA,
That's completely correct.
Can you put the dmesg onto a pastebin site please?
wgetpaste can help.
What do you have in your /boot/config.txt? _________________ Regards,

ROGA,
Your dmesg is missing lines related to the vc4drmfb frame buffer device
Code: | [ 13.363977] vc4-drm soc:gpu: fb0: vc4drmfb frame buffer device |
That's required to use the modesetting driver in Xorg.
Please put your kernel .config file onto a pastebin.
As your dmesg is missing all traces of vc4drmfb, I suspect its been accidentality turned off in your kernel.
The option to check is _________________ Regards,

Hello NeddySeagoon,
so here is my .config file
I looked in the .config file for this option and it was already turned on. Why does my kernel not recognize the vc4 device? _________________ regards,

Hi NeddySeagoon,
I did make a new config file directly on my raspi 4 and compiled it there. The difference between the two .config files are this:
Code: | raspi4 ~ # diff /usr/src/linux/.config /usr/src/linux/.config.old -y --suppress-common-lines
CONFIG_CHECKPOINT_RESTORE=y | # CONFIG_CHECKPOINT_RESTORE is not set
# CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_DEFAULT_GOV_POWERSAVE is not set | CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_DEFAULT_GOV_POWERSAVE=y
CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_DEFAULT_GOV_ONDEMAND=y | # CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_DEFAULT_GOV_ONDEMAND is not set
CONFIG_FB_UVESA=m | # CONFIG_FB_UVESA is not set
CONFIG_PROC_CHILDREN=y | # CONFIG_PROC_CHILDREN is not set
CONFIG_CRYPTO_USER_API_HASH=m | # CONFIG_CRYPTO_USER_API_HASH is not set |
looks a little bit strange to me because this settings are opposites and I don't remember, that I changed this on my own.
After compiling, dmesg shows me this:
Code: | raspi4 ~ # dmesg | grep vc4
[ 3.686428] debugfs: Directory 'fe902000.hdmi' with parent 'vc4-hdmi' already present!

ROGA,
Here's the kernel and related files that I use.
You must not rename the directory inside 5.4.3-v8+.tbz2 as thats the kernels modules.
Everything else goes into boot.
Your Code: | [ 3.691229] fb0: switching to vc4drmfb from simple
[ 3.692090] [drm] Initialized vc4 0.0.0 20140616 for soc:gpu on minor 1
[ 8.801101] vc4-drm soc:gpu: fb0: vc4drmfb frame buffer device | says that your DRM is fixed now.
Wild thought ... do you run ntpd to set the Pi clock as soon as its gets a network connection?
If not, and your time steps backwards, make will get confused. Builds may succeed but will often be incomplete or broken.
Time must be monotonic. It need not be correct but it must never go backwards. _________________ Regards,

Hi NeddySeagoon,
Thank you very much! With your newer kernel version everythings works greate now!

Yes, I did. I had configure ntpd with timedatectl from systemd.
It would be great to know, why my kernel configuration not proper was running. Where was the error? _________________ regards,

ROGA,
My kernel config is in /proc/config.gz. You will need to modprobe the module to get it.
Compare my kernel config with yours. _________________ Regards,
