I just try to search mate-desktop-1.20.ebuild but i didn't find that ebuild.

If you want 1.20.3 you probably have to install the rest of mate 1.20.x because of dependencies.

Yes, i already created your github overlay for layman and compilling mate with base and extras use flags.
But for new mate-users there is no choise for installing mate-1.20 otherwise add your overlay with layman-overlay-maker, it's more difficult than layman -a bunder2015 and layman -S!

2 Days working on mate-1.20.ebuild from bunder's overlay, try to compile with gtk3 support. I think that ebuild stable for now... (gentoo fresh install with gcc-7.3 python-3.6 from stage3 and mate-1.20.ebuild with ~amd64 compiled and installed without problems!
BUT: emerged mate with use="gtk3 base extras" , but much ebuild doesn't have gtk3 use flag?
1. I didn't find how to change localization in control-center
2. Working under root user
3. slim and lightdm started without configuration, need only change XSession -> MATE. Looks good!!!
4. Mate-terminal and panels have good transparent, flash video draws in background
5. Two monitors with a single vga change his behavior from control-center (resolution, primary, refresh)
Didn't test HIDPI, maybe later install.
I think that gentoo to user is not a toy, it is hard handbook.

guess i'll let them know its busted.
edit: confirmed... patch added to overlay to roll back the bad commit, if you emerge -1 mate-netbook it should fix that

In the past week it would appear that someone has picked up the torch and upgraded mate in portage to 1.22... Only problem is, it still needs patches. I tried messaging the dev doing the work on IRC but haven't gotten a response. I guess I'll keep my ebuilds around for a while still yet, at least until they add all the missing/busted stuff.

I told you to file bugs as blockers against the stable tracker. You will find all of them solved at this point. |

Dropped the mate-netbook segfault patch, don't need it anymore.
17 updated ebuilds. If elogind support wasn't working in mate-screensaver, it should be now.

I can't speak for Gentoo mate project but the packages had my attention for the limited lifespan of this tracker, in order not to be a blocker for consolekit deprecation. That opportunity is gone now, and if certain people don't want to become devs...  |

i appreciate the sentiment, but i wasn't a part of getting the 1.22 ebuilds in portage... i only maintained an overlay until someone with commit rights redid all the work i had already done for over a year.

Hello,
I use Mate since the 1st release and it's sad to see that Mate 1.24 is not in the official tree. Mate is abandonned by Gentoo ?
Thanks to oz123, i use his overlay to have the last version. I hope someone in the Gentoo team will push the new ebuild.
But currently, there is a bug with engrampa-1.22.x during compilation if glib2 2.61.2 is installed.
It's the same bug than lxqt-archiver and Mate user on Gentoo needs this patch for a fresh install.
