|
|
Does anybody in this forum have any experience with the Turtle Beach PX22 headset? I know nothing about audio, just so you know.
The headset works fine, but it has this issue where the audio will cut out if it goes below a certain level. This is really annoying because sometimes there are very quiet moments in something I'm watching, but instead of just being quiet, it's silent.
Their support page has a fix for this, but only for Windows, so I'm not sure what can be done on Gentoo to achieve the same fix.

I can't say I have a solution, but maybe something can be worked out. First question is where this cutoff occurs? Does it have a built-in amplifier? Passive headset which is just a pair of small loudspeakers cannot cut itself off. _________________ My Gentoo installation notes.

The windows solution doesn't look like a real solution. More like it-is-not-a-bug-make-sure-it-is-configured-correctly |
Yes, it does have an external amplifier that the headset plugs into. This picture isn't from my headset, but the kind of amplifier is identical.

Check the kernel.org module specific stuff, you may just be able to poke a 'hints' into /sys/class/sound/hw[whatever] to fix it.
Make sure to read it though, this is low level stuff, don't want to break owt. I remember something about a keep alive last time I read it, an inaudible "noise" designed to keep things awake down the line. https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/sound/hd-audio/notes.html |

Does is also happen if you do not use this amplifier (if possible)? |
How could it possibly happen then? The only other possibility would be in-kernel ALSA driver, but I've never heard of such a "feature" implemented in ALSA. This would be seriously undesirable at kernel driver level. _________________ My Gentoo installation notes.
