Innanzitutto Buon Natale e Buone Feste.
Ho appena assemblato un nuovo PC con la cpu in oggetto.
Con il sistema installato senza impostare VIDEO_CARDS= nel make.config
xfce parte normalmente (chiaramente il video lascia molto a desiderare e non mi lascia molte impostazioni) , ma appena imposto VIDEO_CARDS="intel i965 iris" e do il comando emerge --ask --changed-use --deep @world
al riavvio non parte piú xfce e in htop non vedo niente che ha che fare con "X" |

Secondo me se non funziona dovresti regalarmelo  .
A parte gli scherzi, potresti postare qualche log di xorg e anche un lspci -kk?

ok, avevo sbagliato il modulo in make.conf
ho cambiato in
VIDEO_CARDS="intel i915"
e ricompilato
ma comunque non parte
il log di xorg

ho fatto una prova con una live di ubuntu e funziona.

Allora dovresti provere a fare l'altra cosa ovvero

Se usi grub e l'opzione è confgurata con * puoi aggiungere i915.force_probe=4680 alla variabile GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in /etc/default/grub, oppure puoi settare nel kernel CONFIG_DRM_I915_FORCE_PROBE=4680.

ma adesso ho un problema "piú grosso"
provato sia a compilare gentoo-sources che a installare gentoo-kernel-bin
in entrambi i casi sia se uso reboot che shutdown, il pc non fa il reboot o non si spegne.
ho attivato il log di rc, ma niente di particolare, anzi sembra che rc faccia tutto....ma il pc non si spegne....
Funziona solo un kernel che mi sono copiato dal mio "vecchio pc" |

ma adesso ho un problema "piú grosso"

in entrambi i casi sia se uso reboot che shutdown, il pc non fa il reboot o non si spegne.

mhhh...sembra legato alla versione del kernel 5.15
provato adesso con gentoo-kernel-bin-5.10.x
e funziona....
x info il kernel che mi ero copiato dal mio "vecchio pc" è 5.14
strano....presumo che kernel piú recenti abbiano una compatibilitá maggiore e invece...mah |
