I have a fresh install of Gentoo aarch64 on it.

It runs of the ssd drive with no SD card, I'm using default kernel settings.

It hangs randomly. It does not seem either load or memory related, some times it's during compile, some other times running idle.

Swap is on, I'm using official charger, no under voltage in logs.

When it hangs there is blinking coursor, I can change terminals, but cannot do anything, cannot log in to other terminals. Nothing I can see in logs either. It just hangs.

Any clues on how to debug this?

I have RPI4 4GB, I used as desktop for almost a year now. It did "hung" occasionally but very seldom I need to reboot it because it will eventually come out of the state. I found when I have this problem usually is because my browser got into a strange state or very heavy I/O on swap.

So does you hang state eventually come out or you have to reboot to fix it?

Did you examine dmesg output to see if any unexpected messages?

Sometimes network dysfunction will affect GUI desktop, do you use a GUI or you only use virtual terminal?

I have no gui here, It's connected to a screen at the moment but I want to use it as a headless server.

I did look at dmesg but did not find anything that would look like a culprit.

The same Pi run without issues for months on end before. The main difference is that previously it run of the SD card and now it's SSD.

Other differences are that it run heavily stripped kernel before, now it's compiled with the default config.
