|
|
I'm trying to play Radiant Silvergun on my Gentoo system and have an 8bitdo Pro 2 controller that seems to work perfectly with my other emulators, but for some reason Mednafen just does not register any input from it at all and doesn't even seem to be able to detect it. Using Antimicro to map the controller to keyboard buttons does work, but it seems to be really buggy and it almost seems like some of the input is somehow "sticking" when the L and R triggers aren't totally unusable.
I'm not even really sure where to start looking to correct this since Mednafen doesn't really produce much in the way of logs that I can find. Is there something different about the way that Mednafen handles input versus other emulators like Dolphin or Snes9x, PCSX etc?

Unsure if you already know, but mednafen doesn't have auto-configuration for gamepads -- so even though they typically work (uses SDL for this, my xbox one gamepad works at least), they're not mapped to do anything out-of-the-box.
https://mednafen.github.io/documentation/#Section_remapping_input
Alternatively, may want to try the GUI launcher so it's a bit friendlier (games-emulation/mednaffe), then go in Systems->(system to emulate)->Input (should let you just click and press a button on your gamepad to map)
If still no good, then I don't know. |

I've already gone through that and have been using the graphical front-end. Mednafen just does not even detect the controller at all and no input is registered when I try to configure the input in Mednaffe. The system doesn't seem to have any problem registering events from the controller as far as I can tell though. For some reason Mednafen seems to just be refusing to see anything else aside from the keyboard and the mouse.
edit: Not really sure what happened, but it's working fine now. |
