Code: | localhost /var/log/portage # zgrep "flto " dev-qt:qtwidgets-5.15.11-r1:20231202-211310.log.gz | wc -l
332
localhost /var/log/portage # zgrep "flto " dev-qt:qtwidgets-5.15.11-r1:20240130-124528.log.gz | wc -l
0 | The later result remains with later upgrades.
And IIRC I didn't see any ebuild filtering in this respect.
lto is package specific here, i.e. /etc/portage/package.env.
Checking other recent packages with such setting alike, lto seems applied fine.
It could be I've messed up something somewhere... Likely
If so I haven't found out where yet.
Maybe some LTO users with dev-qt/qtwidgets installed would be kind enough to check out on their side & report here?

Title edited as all dev-qt/* but one installed here behave the same
So checking for any of such packages and report here would fit.

So be aware lto may be filtered implicitly within ebuild without any explicit evidence, i.e. filter-lto keyword.

Gentoo developers routinely disable known-broken flags. If the silence bothers you, you could patch the eclass to log when it uses filter-flags. If you really want a broken system, you could even prevent filter-flags from removing flags. However, if you do this, you should be very careful not to ask anyone for help with any problems on the resulting system, because these flags are filtered for good reason, and forum helpers may not take kindly to wasting their time rediscovering these issues. |
