Hello folks ...
This may not be the most popular game, but I installed speed dreams, and the steering is practically not usable. I configured the game pad that I have, it's a generic "GreenAsia Inc. USB Joystick". But regardless, whether I use the keyboard, or the game pad, the same issue persists.
I tried to change the steering sense, but whatever adjustment doesn't seem to have any effect. I also tried to change the steering lock angle, and same result.
Do you have any suggestions? |

Hello,
I guess these hardware (notably the pads) is working anywhere else.
Can you define «steering it practically not usable» ?
Also, be aware they have support: https://sourceforge.net/projects/speed-dreams/support
That might be a better place to ask, if it's not a related Gentoo issue !

I'm sorry if my description was vague! Whenever I use steer left or right, the car keeps on rotating on it's front wheels and doesn't stop until I stop throttling, so a race or practice starts normally, until the first time I steer, then I cannot steer anymore. |

Would you say it responds, but that is weird ?
I read a topic about this game being a simulation, not a race car game, maybe it's just extra sensitive / too realistic ?
Is there any options regarding sensitivity ? Might be too high.

It tries to respond, but it gets overwhelmed because the steering wheel seems to be locked on whatever position makes the car spinning, and it just keeps on spinning.

It does actually race, I used it before, but long time ago.

Yes there are 2, one for steering sensitivity, the other for speeding sensitivity. There're also controls for the steer wheel angles, and I tried to change these as well, but they don't seem to make any difference.
I'll run it on a terminal and see the output. I thought there maybe some other control I'm not aware of, so I thought I'd ask before trying to debug, and/or recompile. |
