borje2,

Installing x11-drivers/xf86-video-nouveau is harmless as long as its not used. Yet.

x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel is depreciated. There is no need to install it.

What does
Code:
emerge -pv xorg-drivers
tell?
We need to discover why you don't have libinput.

Dont use startx ... if you want test display-manager ... (because you have removed it from runlevel "default") ... do a:
Code:
# /etc/init.d/display-manager start

Dont worry: Portage does all what is necessary if ... IF you have the correct line in make.conf (VIDEO_CARDS=) ... and IF your world-update runs without errors ...

We will clean every mess you have ...

First do what I told in my last post: Cleaning world-file and CHECKING ... if Portage will clean out something I WANT TO SEE BEFORE I say:

Do it ;-)

x11-drivers/xf86-input-libinput in Latest version available: 1.4.0 is correct (Neddy must have confused this with evdev)

BUT You have NOT given us the output @Neddy asked for ... Is there a reason for it ?

Have you made a REBOOT ? Please tell us. If not do it.

Dont worry ... we will check now the NEW xorg.log (CHECK the DATE in /var/log) = plese give us.

... and we come to the next question:

Do you have a Notebook ? Or Desktop ?

With ONE connection ONLY for your monitor ON THE MAINBOARD ... OR ... TWO possble connections: ONE from motherboard + ONE from NVIDIA graphics adapter directly ?

borje2,

Code:
INPUT_DEVICES="libinput -elographics -evdev -joystick -synaptics -vmmouse -void -wacom"

That means that libinput is installed, as does your eix output.
It follows that the Xorg.0.log you have been sharing is old, as that log says that libinput is not found.

borje2,

as we now know there is no NEW xorg.log, we know that sddm dont start X.11 ... so we have a problem with sddm itself.

Some things you should know:

1. Some Use-flags you are not allowed to set (or deselect) BECAUSE they are set by a profile. For example: If you dont have the profile "no-multilib" (you have multilib) THEN the use-flag "multilib" is set automatically AND you are not allowed / not able to deselect it. Another use-flag is "systemd", "spli-usr" ... AND ... "hardened" ... If you have not installed a hrdened-profile you can not set this use-flag ... LUCKILY ... you made another misetake:

2. If you want set some use-flags in your make.conf with USE=... THEN you must put all in ONE line ... OR ... you ust do this:
Code:
USE="foo"
USE="$USE morefoo"

This means: At the moment you have set: USE="-bindist" ... LUCKILY ...

3. It is hard to help if some questions will not be answered ... your connection of your monitor ...

4. No, you DONT need x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel ... this is an old drivers

5. You have not done a "emerge --deselect gentoo-sources" ... as told ... this leads to the problem of emerge not being able to resolve the conflict of installkernel (the grub conflict is because os-prober ... dont install it)

6. I have seen in your world-file you have also installed "x11-wm/dwm" ... maybe this conflicts with sddm ... I dont know what happened with sddm ...

7. If you install with our Handbook AND/OR with https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/User:Pietinger/Draft/Quick_Installation_OpenRC_for_an_UEFI_System
-AND-
have set the correct profile (you have the correct profile: desktop/plasma)
-AND-
have installed kde/plasma as I wrote in this thread
-THEN-
you should have ONLY this in your world-file (with additional libreoffice,firefox,..)
Code:
app-admin/sysklogd
app-office/gnucash
app-office/libreoffice
app-text/wgetpaste
kde-apps/kdecore-meta
kde-plasma/kdeplasma-addons
kde-plasma/plasma-meta
net-fs/autofs
net-misc/dhcpcd
sys-apps/pciutils
sys-boot/efibootmgr
sys-boot/grub
sys-kernel/gentoo-kernel-bin
sys-kernel/installkernel
www-client/firefox-bin
x11-base/xorg-server

There is no need to install sddm or display-manager or something else, because you will get these all automatically with xorg-server, plasma-meta and kdecore-meta

8. The ONLY things you should set by yourself when installing is: VIDEO_CARDS in make.conf and ->

9. You should not set any use-flags - because you will get all necessary use-flags automatically with the profile (you can always check with "emerge --info") - except:
THE "cpuidflags" as described here: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/User:Pietinger/Draft/Quick_Installation_OpenRC_for_an_UEFI_System#Portage
(at the moment you are missing it, because we have deleted every file in /etc/portage/package.use/)

At the moment I am tempted to advise you to reinstall ... unless Neddy objects here because he can help you with the sddm problem.

pietinger,

There is something going on here that we are not grasping but I can't see what at present.
A few more tests may be in order before we admit defeat and suggest a reinstall. :)

If display-manager is in any runlevel, remove it. We don't want it to start.
Now reboot, so we are sure that display-manager is not running.

Code:
emerge -1av twm xclock xterm

-1 means don't add anything to world.
If you have an ~/.xinitrc move it out of the way.
Code:
mv ~/.xinitrc ~/.xinitrc_saved

Now
Code:
startx
should run three xterms and an xclock all wrapped up in twm.
Once you realise that it only uses the primary mouse button, its quite usable.

This will do for debugging libinput. A reinstall won't fix that.

If it works and you have a working mouse and keyboard, good. That's we wanted.
If not, you will have a new Xorg.0.log. Probably at
Code:
~/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log

Share that file as it may explain libinput.

If everything is good. The problem is with your GUI login. A reinstall will not fix that either.
This is only diagnostics to make the problem space smaller. Its not a fix.
