Hi folks

Could anybody interpret this warning message from
Code:
emerge @world
, and give me an idea whether I ought to be concerned or not? I simply don't have the faintest idea what the problem is. So far as I know, everything is currently working fine.

Thanks in advance.

BR, Lars.

Not without the full output, but if you are trying to do a world update, emerge @world is not the command to do it, you are missing several emerge options, including --update.

Thank you, but what I posted was pretty-much the full output, apart from a bit of boilerplate. I have added the rest below.

What I actually ran was

Code:

emerge -avuDN --getbinpkg @world

That's just a warning informing you that there are updates available but they cannot be emerged because something holds on older version/s of some thing/s else.

Particularly, see the above replay.

Emerge should be able to continue despite those or just not find anything it can update and exit.

Best Regards,
Georgi

Thanks. So is it Qt6 that has an update, that can't be installed?

It's not stopping emerge working, and everything is up to date (apart from this). I'm just not sure whether I should be worried that I can't install something.

I'm not sure why I need Qt6 -- I'm guessing it's for FreeCAD.

Yes. Per the bit that Anon-E-Moose quoted, you have a package pinning to qt-6.7.1. Per the line:
Code:
(dev-qt/qtbase-6.7.2-r1:6/6.7.2::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) USE="X concurrent cups dbus gtk gui icu libinput libproxy network nls opengl sql sqlite ssl udev vulkan widgets xml (zstd) -accessibility -brotli -eglfs -evdev -gles2-only -gssapi -journald -mysql -oci8 -odbc -postgres -renderdoc -sctp -syslog -test -tslib -wayland" ABI_X86="(64)" conflicts with
You would update Qt to 6.7.2, if not for the dependency requirements holding you back at 6.7.1.

Thanks, folks.

So I'm guessing I'm OK, until something needs a later revision of Qt6? Presumably that won't be a problem if the thing that is keeping the older version also needs a later version.

Actually I don't even see 6.7.1 version mentioned in the output, so if OP syncs, everything should be solved.

Thanks. Everything works fine, but the warning message doesn't go away. I see it every time I sync. I'm just ignoring it right now.

Interesting. What does

Code:
emerge -pvc =dev-qt/qtbase-6.7.1

say?

@logrusx

Thanks. It says the attached.

Incidentally, getting FreeCAD installed was a bit of a pain. There's a related discussion here:

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1169699-highlight-freecad.html

It seems plausible that something I had to do, to make FreeCAD build, has had odd side-effects. But I'm just guessing.
