Hello all!

My name is Filip Kobierski and this year I got into Gentoo.
I have my holidays now so I'd like to give some of my time back to the FOSS community and I feel like this is a good place to do it.

At first I have decided that I'll help with QA -- since it exists no more errors should appear in the repo, but what about the ones that are already there?
I tried to do that in my PRs and some of them were merged.
I'd like to coordinate my efforts and stop this guerrilla warfare type of work.
I think I'd even like to become a developer (maintainer?)
I will sign up as a proxied maintainer but during the holidays (~2 months) I don't want to assign myself to any package just because I have time to spare and it'll be gone relatively soon.
Long story short, I want to get on my way to being a gentoo regular, so if anyone could mentor me I would be grateful.

Right now I plan to do these things:
1. Go through the repo tree and bump EAPI to 8
2. Go through the repo tree and fix pkgcheck issues with EAPI 8 builds
3. Go through the repo tree and drop old stuff (treecleaning?)

I think it's more of something that I will be doing and not that I will finish doing as the tree is big,
Do we have more pressing problems?

PS. I know this post is kind of chaotic. It's a first for me :D

EDIT: The best way to reach me is by email (fkobi@pm.me).

fkobi,

first of all, Welcome to our Gentoo forum. :D

If you read some of the threads here you will surely come across users labeled "developer". ;-)

Even if some of our Gentoo developers read here, it might be more appropriate to use the mailing list: gentoo-dev@lists.gentoo.org.

Nevertheless, we are happy to welcome any new user here in the forum who has in-depth Gentoo knowledge and is willing to help other users. ;-)

I wish you a lot of success on your way to becoming a Gentoo developer. :D
