I've attempted to update today but there are a bunch of conflicts that I don't understand and so I'm not sure how to progress on this.

for example

Code:
kde-frameworks/kservice:6

(kde-frameworks/kservice-6.6.0:6/6.6::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) USE="man -debug -doc -test" ABI_X86="(64)" pulled in by

But in my my mind, that should update?

another one

Code:
kde-frameworks/kidletime:6

(kde-frameworks/kidletime-6.5.0:6/6.5::gentoo, installed) USE="X wayland -debug -doc -xscreensaver" ABI_X86="(64)" pulled in by
    >=kde-frameworks/kidletime-6.5.0:6/6.5=[wayland] required by (kde-plasma/kwin-6.1.5:6/6::gentoo, installed) USE="(caps) handbook lock screencast shortcuts systemd -accessibility -debug -gles2-only -test" ABI_X86="(64)"
                                    ^^^^^^^

kwin should update fine as it requires kde frameworks 6.5.0 or higher like others in this update

the full emerge output is at https://pastebin.com/7P9vySsg

the packages list for updating on my system

What command was used in the paste? Also, 'Dependency resolution took 13.86 s (backtrack: 0/0).' looks odd (no backtracking).

Please also share emerge --info.

Have you read the KDE Plasma 6 news item?

There is no problem visible in those snippets above. As sam_ said we need your emerge command.

I did read the news item back on the day KDE 6.1 was stabilized.

the command I used was

Quote:
sudo emerge -u @world

and I tried that command again without my EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS set

here is the emerge --info

sorry, I completely forgot about the "backtrack" option. I just ran the command again with that out and it's not complaining now

thanks for the help/tip

I did read the news item back on the day KDE 6.1 was stabilized.

Must be talking about KDE Plasma, I guess.

the command I used was

Code:
sudo emerge -u @world

Adding -D likely would have sufficed, but good you got it going.

yes, I meant to say "KDE Plasma"

oh I do have that set by default in my make.conf, just that I had backtrack set to 0 too

but later I commented out my EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS and running "sudo emerge -u @world" - backtrack set to 10 by default and deep is off

but later I turned my EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS back on, still forgetting about backtrack ( I did this back when KDE Plasma 6.1 was in testing )

when sam_ mentioned

looks odd (no backtracking).

I was thinking about it while making the next response, after that post that's when I thought

ooooh yeah, I set that in my EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS

removed that and it working again
