|
|
Hi everyone,
I’m starting some online music classes, and my teacher needs to hear me play the guitar.
We’ll be using Skype for communication. However, I’m struggling with how to properly connect my audio devices.
Here’s what I’m trying to achieve:- The guitar audio should be sent to both my teacher and my headphones
- My microphone audio should be sent to the teacher only
I tried to use QjackCtl to set things up. So far, I managed to send the guitar audio, but I’m having trouble with the microphone.
Here’s a screenshot of the configuration: https://i.postimg.cc/q754gr3D/Screenshot-from-2024-10-12-01-09-32.png
Description for the picture:
AXE IO One Mono is an input jack on guitar amplifier,
AXE IO One Multichannel – Headphone jack on guitar amplifier,
Built-in Audio Analog Stereo – speaker on laptop.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You already have JACK, that's a pretty good start
So, is there any problem with your current setup?
Well, aside from (probably) effects (?) not being applied to the stream going out to skype. I suppose you want both, yourself and your teacher to hear the same version of guitar, so it would make sense to connect skype's input parallel to the playback device after you're done with processing rather than feeding it the raw input directly.
You could consider detaching playback via builtin stereo as well, though it probably doesn't matter if you just mute with a button.
Finally, stereo mics found in laptops often make more pleasant sound if you use both channels, so it might be a good idea to mix Capture_FL AND Capture_FR into that skype mono instead of leaving one of them out. _________________ Make Computing Fun Again |
