Can you please help telling me what I'm doing wrong here and if I've missed something? ... 
games-emulation/sdlmame exists here > https://gpo.zugaina.org/Overlays/salfter/games-emulation/sdlmame
(although in reality there seems to be an additional ("sub")overlay named salfter)
zugaina repo has been added (and synced):

Here is your misunderstanding. https://gpo.zugaina.org is an index of dozens if not hundreds of overlays. 99% of packages listed there are not part of the zugaina overlay itself.
Instead, you want the salfter overlay which has nothing to do with the zugaina overlay. |

Because the same author of the website also has an overlay.
However, I would be surprised if any of that overlay actually works today. Most updates stopped by 2010.
Maybe Ycarus will remove it from the list someday. (Which, IMO, would reduce the confusion.) |
