I am stuck and unable to update my gentoo system running desktop systemd profile. Would appreciate some help please.
Ran the following to update the system:

Because of the "Can't locate", oneshot dev-perl/Locale-gettext to fix this issue. This is often seen in the middle of an upgrade when a perl minor version changes. |

Ah ha. Thank you. You have eagle eyes spotting that one.
I checked the dependency tree and found out it's modemmanager requiring the package. I've removed it from networkmanager use flags.
System seems to be building now.

The emerge --oneshot param installs the package without adding it to the world file...

I read somewhere that libraries should not be included in the world set.
So, I'm thinking --oneshot is used when installing libraries? |

| Use --oneshot any time you install a package for a reason other than that you want the package installed indefinitely. Thus, don't use it for installing your favorite editor, video player, etc, because you want your favorite programs to remain installed. Do use it when reinstalling a library, a tool that is necessary to build something you want, etc, because you are only doing those as a means to an end, and you are willing to see them removed as soon as that end no longer needs them. |
