I also want to watch TV shows on Kodi. In the past I have used VDR, but I can't find the vdr-vnsiser plugin.
Wayland or Xorg? Recommendation how to set USE variables?

As in live broadcast?
I haven't done it in a while, but kodi was still working with the mythtv plugin up to version 0.33.
Because my HDHomerun was aerial-less and I never used it, I didn't bother to do the myhthv upgrade to 0.34 earlier this year and just pulled it of the machine, but it still worked with the "no signal" message through the kodi plugin though (which is still in portage).

I have Anysee E30 C tv tuner. I'm not used myhthv. Tvheadend is one option with kodi-pvr-hts.

Cool. Kodi is pretty low maintenance as applications go, there was a bit of a "dependency struggle" between ffmpeg-4 and 6, but that seems cured now. I run a "media kiosk" on an old FX8500 machine with
Code:
[ebuild   R    ] media-tv/kodi-21.1::gentoo  USE="X airplay alsa css dbus lirc nfs optical system-ffmpeg udev upnp vaapi vdpau webserver -bluetooth -bluray -caps -cec -doc -eventclients -gbm -gles -lcms -libusb -mariadb -mysql -pipewire -pulseaudio -samba -soc -test -udf -wayland -xslt -zeroconf"

As "just another program" on desktop machines it's just like installing mplayer or kaffeine. I've always run it in X because "if it aint broke..."

What sort of environment are you intending to run it in, just on a Desktop/Laptop PC, or as some kind of "easy interaction" Gentoo based set-top box/media server?
