|
|
I just noticed that volume control buttons on my Thinkpad have apparently broken down.
Previously - I'm sure only a while ago - when I pressed volup/down/mute, an OSD appeared on screen showing the volume control.
Now, nothing happens.
xev still shows the buttons being pressed, so that has not changed:
Code: | KeyPress event, serial 40, synthetic NO, window 0x800001,
root 0x478, subw 0x0, time 3291257, (-505,634), root:(281,664),
state 0x0, keycode 123 (keysym 0x1008ff13, XF86AudioRaiseVolume), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False
KeyRelease event, serial 40, synthetic NO, window 0x800001,
root 0x478, subw 0x0, time 3291269, (-505,634), root:(281,664),
state 0x0, keycode 123 (keysym 0x1008ff13, XF86AudioRaiseVolume), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False |
What could be the cause here? |

when i installed Plasma 6 i saw that the majority of the default keybinds were all gone, maybe they got disabled on your end too? try checking System Settings -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts -> Audio volume |

...turned out it was simpler than that.
When starting up, Kmix simply was not started. It had vanished somehow. Now added it back and it's reacting properly.
The volume up/down keybinds are bound to Kmix and if it's not running nothing happens... |

But you also post no other information so anyone else could make a guess. |

Well, I made keybindings that look like this and didn't investigate further Code: | amixer set Master 5%%+ |
I was too lazy to open a bugreport about it, maybe I should do it. |

How did ya'll make those keybindings?
And are you aware that Plasma 6 switched to Wayland session per default, unless you selected otherwise? Consequently, in such a session, since unlike in X11 not every application can catch any keypresses anymore, unless you use Plasma's global shortcuts, your old way of making keybindings may be broken. |

System Settings->Keyboard->Shortcuts and assigned the volume keys under "commands".
I'm on Wayland. |
