For the other 2 persons running KDE: this version of kalarm is broken. An attempt to play a sound results in
Code: | org.kde.pim.kalarm: AudioPlayer::play: Failed to play sound with VLC: <path to sound file> |
and then the whole application becomes extremely slow and unresponsive. This is confirmed e.g. here https://discuss.kde.org/t/kalarm-issues-with-playing-sounds-or-audio/21546
There are two ebuilds present in the tree, kalarm-24.08.1.ebuild and kalarm-24.08.3.ebuild. The first one is broken. The second one is accept-keyword masked, and to unmask it I have to unmask the whole of KDE. I attempted to emerge --nodeps, but it refuses to build out of the box because it expects to find various KDE libraries and config files of version 6.2.3, but we have 6.2.1.
My solution was to edit the CMakeLists.txt and replace all occurrences of 6.2.3 with 6.2.1, them ebuild compile and all the rest as usual. It builds and seems to work this way. |

This input is not understood. Many more persons may be *part* of that community. They may *use* software made by that community, sometimes that may be a desktop called Plasma, sometimes it may be a software like kalarm, part of KDE PIM, which is shipped together with KDE Gear, in a separate release cycle to Plasma. There is no relation, except that KDE PIM may contain some widgets specific to being run inside a Plasma environment.
KDE Gear 24.08.3 (and with it kalarm) has been filed for stabilisation some time ago - I don't know when arch teams finally get around to it: https://bugs.gentoo.org/942999
But also, since editing the build system of a package might be impractical to those "other 2 persons running [a software made by] KDE", here's some keywords file generated in kde overlay that may simply be downloaded and placed in package.accept_keywords: https://github.com/gentoo/kde/blob/master/Documentation/package.accept_keywords/kde-gear-24.08.keywords
That file will raise all of KDE Gear to 24.08.3, of course. |
