|
so hello i have been using gentoo for years, i tried compiling my own kernel but i settled on using prebuild kernel
Code: |
Linux gentoo 6.6.67-gentoo-dist #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Thu Dec 19 22:09:00 -00 2024 x86_64 AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6-Core Processor AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux |
and it works fine, many adjustmend i was making in the past was just adding support for some new hardware, and i didnt enjoy it that much, i really love portage tho.
well my question is then when using this kernel, how can i change some options for the kernel? what would be the best gentoo-way of changing some options?
for example i wanted to play with preempt=full, and i wonder is it worth recompiling kernel? or adding it to grub? or is there way to build it into kernel without having to do it by scratch every kernel upgrade?
Thank you
and i was looking into Cachyos-srouces kernel for gentoo, i really like that bore scheduler, is it compatibel with preemtp-full? or scx?
and i cant find mucch info on all the USe flags for tthis kernel would like to learn ore about ithis somehow like for exmaple difference between bore use flag vs bore-sched , very intresting :wq |
