|
I used Gentoo as my daily os from 2003 to about 2011. I was there when Gentoo was "dying", when it died, and when it died again. I'm back using it after a break of 14 years.
Wow! It's so good now. The Wiki is excellent, the community is mature, QA has improved and portage is solid. You're all doing such a good job.
I'm still getting to up to speed, but I have more time this year and I'm going to start trying to help out where I can, with bug reports/fixes and wiki edits. If you see me around, please let me know how I'm doing as an old hand but also kinda noob  _________________ Back on the G after 15 years on the Cupertino Kool-aid |

bent,
Nobody leaves Gentoo. We knew you would come back but we didn't know when. :)
Welcome back.
It you want to see how much Gentoo has improved, try Historical Gentoo.
You did that at the time ... how much do you remember? _________________ Regards,

What I definitely remember is /etc/make.conf and /usr/portage because I'm still typing them instead of the new paths at least once a day.
I remember 'releases'. I remember being the only one that was sad when the default X11 pattern got patched out. XMMS.
That's a cool article, thanks for writing it. We had the same CPU, seems like those K6-2's were everywhere. _________________ Back on the G after 15 years on the Cupertino Kool-aid |
