IPU6 camera support ( Thinkpad X1 Carbon gen 12 and others)

Now in particular with 6.12.16 stable, what is the current Gentoo status on the support of IPU6 built-in cameras ?

start getting some success for Thnikpad X1 carbon gen 12, which I am interested in, but it still requires a patchwork
of pieces, including perhaps some out-of-kernel modules.

Does anybody know what do we already have, or going to get in Gentoo of that work/pipeline ?

Thow proprietary driver for Lenovo X1 Carbon may become a better solution, the open source requires libcamera, which is not in Gentoo. So let us follow the bug https://bugs.gentoo.org/867670
