I use to scan over a network. I can't any more.
The scan server to which my USB scanner is attached returns:
Code: | scanimage -L
device `epkowa:interpreter:001:008' is a Epson GT-S640 flatbed scanner
|
My scan client, which is on the same network, returns the same
Code: | scanimage -L
device `epkowa:interpreter:001:008' is a Epson GT-S640 flatbed scanner
|
On the client I use to run iscan-2.30.4.2-r3, but it doesn't install anymore.
Simple-scan accesses the sane backend and can be used successfully in a rudimentary manner, but is prone to hanging.
iscan-3.65.0-r2, aka utsushi, installs but I don't know how to get it to access the working sane backend. Also, there's talk of a non-free network backend. That sounds yuck.
I similarly don't know how, or if I can, get epsonscan2-6.7.70.0 to point to sane network backend.
What I need is a GUI to access my working SANE backend, like the good old days. What should I now use and how?

There's xsane in portage. It is a bit weird and clunky but it works. Avahi (pulled in via USE=zeroconf) and sane-airscan can help you detect your scanner over network. _________________ Make Computing Fun Again |

Good suggestion.
And there's scanservjs, but there isn't an ebuild |
