Hello,

Just wondering, do you need scsi emu to successfully access a usb memory stick with kernel 2.6?

I have vfat and all that dos stuff (and usb_storage) enabled in my kernel.. but it's looking like I need some scsi emu stuff cuz it wants to be called sda1 or somethin...

I don't want to use scsi emu... NO... is there any other way?

Yeah AFAIK, its generic scsi, and scsi disk support. I beleive the usb-storage option only becomes available after you have enabled the scsi stuff in your kernel.
