I used to run gmplayer/gmplayer when using gnome no problems at all to play (S)VCD file in .bin format.
I have just installed KDE 3.2 and while sound works I cannot seem to get mplayer to work at all. When I run from the command line I get the following output:
Checking audio filter chain for 44100Hz/2ch/16bit -> 44100Hz/2ch/16bit...
AF_pre: af format: 2 bps, 2 ch, 44100 hz, little endian signed int
AF_pre: 44100Hz 2ch Signed 16-bit (Little-Endian)
audio_setup: Can't open audio device /dev/sound/dsp: Device or resource busy
alsa-init: testing and bugreports are welcome.
alsa-init: requested format: 44100 Hz, 2 channels, Signed 16-bit (Little-Endian)
alsa-init: 1 soundcard found, using: hw:0,0
and here it just sits until I kill mplayer. Anyone got any ideas as to where I should start to look?? As I said, this used to work fine under gnome.
Cheers,
David |

KDE 'grabs' the sound system, and mplayer is waiting to get it back...
It'll be a long wait.]
Try which will tell mplayer to play through 'arts'; the KDE sound system. Or if that fails to tell it to play with no sound, so that you can see where the problem lies. |
