|
|
I'm installing with the latest release, 2004.0 from the universal installer CD, stage 3, no GRP.
I'm at the the part of the install where I'm ready to compile a kernel, but I've run into a problem. My gentoo PC does not have internet access, but I've copied the sources for everything from the CD onto my HD as directed in the install guide. However when I type 'emerge gentoo-sources', portage tries to download the sources. I can't seem to get it to install from the sources on my HD. I checked my /usr/portage directory, and sure enough the ebuilds seem to be there.
Probably something simple I've missed or forgotten to do, but some help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

what emerge options are you using?
emerge -kp foomatic... should load from the packages in your system - the -p shows what will happen without really doing it... _________________ Aerosolo ergo sum - I spray therefore I am

tried -k. still tries to get things from the net.
for something different, i tried emerge -k genkernel. it got the genkernel sources form my HD and compiled that, but then it got stuck trying to emerge mod-init-tools (from the net).
I noticed PKGDIR was set to /root, i tried changing that to /usr/portage, but that didn't work either. |
