For some reason, I happen to like using Sendmail (as long as m4 is available). Therefore, including it in portage would be good.

I agree absolutely, I like choice and prefer not to have postfix shoved upon me. I have a cool perl script that setups sendmail nicely using m4.
Please provide this as a package please! |

For me, sendmail is also the choice of the available MTA's.
I think, everyone should be able to decide free, what to use. That is, what makes linux such a great stuff. Please do add sendmail to the portage tree.
